Personally I wouldn't want them to pre-dedicate my mini to me because I don't want anyone dictating how I play the game.
That aside, I also decided that if I won the golem in this contest I would keep it. Mostly because if I had, basically, an unlimited sum of money, the game would be over for me. I'd just go on a spending spree buy all the things I'd ever have wanted, and then there would be nothing for me to do or work towards. Also, I'd want to spite all the cynics here by keeping my undedicated mini golem as a trophy instead of selling it.

Im glad for you then, Operative. Ive been around since BWE and have taken large breaks from GW from time to time. Trying to do all the stuff to explore everything while also affording luxury stuff sucks. If I had the cash, I would buy all i wanted, finish the money titles, then move on to other activities or another game.I got plenty from this one already.

The 2nd plagiarist's (the papercraft dude's) entry has been taken down now. We have 8 honorable mentions places.
Wonder if there's any reason why there are no 2 empty spaces now?

New Honorable Mentions - Halloween Art Contest - 10 November 2009
After some discussion (with our legal department), much email communication with different parties, and information gathering, we have an update for you about the issues with a couple of winning entries in the Halloween Art Contest. Another entry had to be removed. This change was reflected on the web site on November 9. This left two empty spots in the ranking. Following this decision, we contacted two contest participants who were next in line according to the tally of votes to offer them the Honorable Mention prize. I'm happy to say that the two participants have replied back and agreed to accept the prize. We will update the web page to show off their entries this week. Thank you to all for your patience, and thank you again to the folks that let us know via PM, email, and other methods that there were potential issues with certain entries.

Not to complain, but you realize how ridiculous that sounds?
Anet: "umm, you're next in line for placing... do you accept the rarest mini in the game as your prize?"
Dude: "No thanks, I don't want it. Byebye."
Pfft xD

Glad to see this resolved. Though, the whole thing leaves me feeling irritated. The greed, anet's crazy decision to put something out there obtainable by only the highest of high end traders... ugh.

Exactly like that, I don't agree with that, either. I'd be 100% fine with just the NPC, thanks
Besides, there's NO WAY those tonics are going to sell for even a fraction of what the MKG minis will sell for (honestly, 5k in RL money? Are you kidding me?) so it's not a fair comparison.

I wouldn't have minded if the minis were customized for the winners.
Had I won one, I would've never sold it. It's special, it's what you won with your talent.
I don't care about its value, and even if I had 1000000000 ectos, I would not buy it, or sell it for that much.
That's not where the value lies at for me.

Thanks Regina and to everyone at Arenanet for granting my painting an honorable mention. I'm humbled by the honor and enjoyed every minute making that painting. I'm so pleased that a few more people might now see it. Congratulation also to Jolan who also made the cut as well as the existing winners. That Jora costume really does rock.

People cheated in prior contests too. It has nothing to do with the prize really. And more to do with laziness of the contest participants who just stole somebody's work.

To be honest i think that is better than the Asuran in the Garden winner of this year... Sure it was nice... But i didn't think it was top notch material. The Detail in your artwork is quite nice. Its kind of cartoonist and the mini gray pumpkins are quite neat.
